The Remedy: Coco and the Lost

Coco and the Lost at Signature Brew Haggerston

Stuck in a rut? Looking for that new music fix? John Kennedy has The Remedy for you. As a longstanding indie curator, his recommendations are tried and tested to bring us the very best in new music. Returning to the arches of Signature Brew Haggerston, the latest iteration of his showcase The Remedy certainly did not disappoint.

Equipped with laptop, two mics and a raring-to-go attitude, Brighton duo COWZ start the night with a bang. Whipping the crowd into shape with their edgy bubblegum-pop, their set is jam packed with wit and charm - from the offset focusing the tone of the night to all things FUN. From their catchy hooks to their conversational style, the duo bring high energy to the room. They’re clearly having a good time - and the crowd can’t help but join them.

Before the next act take to the stage, the frontman can be seen outside doing warm ups and handing out business cards. Looking to the stage, the scene has been set with a water cooler, plants, desks and folder props - this is the Office For Personal Development.

From start to finish, the bands polished electro-pop, charismatic energy and unwavering commitment to the bit have the crowd fascinated. With the venue transformed into a corporate away day, the bands meticulously planned out set remains wonderfully joyful and silly. As the set goes on it becomes heavier and more chaotic, and ends with the frontman topless, standing on his head. From slick hooks to drama and disbelief - this was the motivational fever dream we didn’t know we needed.

While a tough act to follow, headliner Coco And The Lost soon took command of the crowd as her charming alt-pop rings out across the venue. Performing with a band, the tight trio’s set is polished and slick as track after track they don’t set a foot wrong. Brimming with charisma, her presence has the crowd transfixed as she delivers a refreshingly fresh take on Brit-pop, with anthemic choruses and danceable hooks that’ll be sure to stick in your head.

Ending her set with ‘I’ve Got Nothing John’, she nods to John Kennedy in the crowd before returning for an encore of the crowd requested hit ‘One Last Thing’ - bringing a night full of feel-good pop hits to an end.

You can catch the next The Remedy show at Signature Brew Haggerston on 18th. April.
