Neon Waltz at The Camden Assembly

Neon Waltz at The Camden Assembly

Camden has changed a lot in recent years, but it’ll always be a hotbed for culture in our eyes. Friday night saw two of the best emerging acts under one roof as China Bears and Neon Waltz took to the stage at The Camden Assembly. With both acts set for SXSW in the coming days, we’re treated to the warm up lap of two acts at their very best.

As we enter the crowded venue, our night begins with the soothing sounds of China Bears. With a focus on new material, the band give us a taste of what’s to come. Tender vocals and indulgent tones draw us in and fill us up with communal catharsis. There’s comfort to be found in their sound, and as they deliver polished track after track all worries are melted away in perfect preparation for the weekend ahead.

The crowd fizzes with excitement as headliners Neon Waltz then take to the stage. From the offset, their unrelenting rhythms and anthemic melodies have the crowd hooked. Fresh, feel-good sounds emanate around the venue as the band deliver their cinematic tracks with a slick ease. From the high energy anthems to the soft, pensive ballads, Neon Waltz prove that their melodic indie rock can do it all.

London’s Scottish contingent were out in force as they sing and dance to track after track with a euphoric energy. This crowd are determined to have a good time - and the talent have certainly delivered. The Friday feeling is here, and Neon Waltz have provided the perfect soundtrack.

Feeding off of the crowd’s energy, Neon Waltz bring all the confidence and charm to the stage, as their rich, full sound resinates around the venue. The crowd chant along as the bands tight harmonies shine. As the final track chimes out, groups join together and sway along with joyous grins plastered across their faces. An early curfew means for many their nights are just beginning, and yet little could top the energy in this room.
