A Night at The Sebright: Max Fulcrum & The Win

Max Fulcrum and The Win at The Sebright Arms

Down below the chaos of The Sebright Arms bar, we were greeted with the quiet calm tones of Louis O'Hara and band. A late addition to the bill, his set was short but undoubtably sweet. Although unexpected to see a cello and clarinet on stage, their songs were a welcome escape for the early comers - an acoustic dream beneath the bustle of karaoke night upstairs.

Bristol's MP3 Chainsaw then followed, bringing their electro-punk madness to the stage. Bringing big energy and even bigger wails, the band's experimental synth rock brought a captivating element of surprise as the crowd guess what their next move will be. Sounding tight yet chaotic, they brought a fresh sound that we won't be forgetting anytime soon.

World News then took to the stage with their slick tunes and soulful vocals. With a polished sound and ease on stage, this is a band who should be playing much larger venues. Ending with the earworm inducing 'Wrapped In Gold', the band had the whole crowd behind them. From their intricate hooks to their smooth vocals, we expect to see a lot more of World News in the future.

Headliners Max Fulcrum & The Win then took the stage. Downsizing only somewhat from his previous collective Fake Turins, frontman Dominic Rose leads the septet with style. With tight-knit grooves and slick breakdowns paired with Rose's charmingly abrupt dance moves Max Fulcrum & The Win will always be winners in our eyes.
